  1. The military may be starting to realize that while Venezuela is out of most things there is probably still an ample supply of lamp poles and rope. Timing is a bitch.

  2. I’ve been watching the coverage, and Fox News just ran a story that the head of the Venezuelan secret police changed sides tonight. It also said,

Meanwhile, Maduro took to Venezuela’s airwaves to proclaim that the uprising sparked by opposition leader Juan Guaidó had been defeated. In a rambling address, Maduro said his regime had responded to the rebellion with “nerves of steel, maximum serenity and effective action” and claimed that the leaders of the uprising were under arrest and being questioned.

He should have added that the opposition forces were dying in the streets everywhere, and that his soldiers were beating them with shovels. I mean, if you’re going to go the full Baghdad Bob… Go for it.

The opposition has belt fed machine guns set up on overpasses around the airport. I don’t think that’s a sign that they’ve been defeated. If Maduro won’t fly to Cuba, I think we should send in a B-2 and crater the runway so he can’t leave, and see if they can figure out who did it. It would send a clear message that we’re willing to kill him and his loyalists.
