How We Became Fat-Phobic
The message is finally getting out.
For decades, Americans have been “fat-phobic,” believing saturated fats to be one of the leading contributors to heart disease. Dr. Nina Teicholz, founder of The Nutrition Coalition, debunks this idea popularized by one scientist in the twentieth century.

I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that Ancel Keys was an unwitting mass murderer.
New Guidelines On Blood Pressure
Much of which is BS.
There is zero scientific basis for thinking that eating low-fat foods will reduce blood pressure.
Three Days?
There are people who don’t have three days of canned food? We could go a month, not because we’re survivalists, but because we shop at Costco. Maybe it’s a European thing?
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she had stocked up on canned food to last three days in the event of a possible Russian cyberattack.

Coffee, Again
It does seem to be a healthy beverage. It’s too bad that it tastes so awful.
“Research has found that people who drink four or more cups a day are 53 percent less likely to commit suicide.”
If I had to drink four or more cups a day, I’d be much more likely to contemplate suicide (which is something that I never do).
Paw Paws
An interesting article on an interesting fruit. A friend of mine grows them on his farm west of Ann Arbor. It’s a tropical fruit that will grow at higher latitudes.
Coffee
Yet another study on its supposed benefits.
They lose me right off the bat when they compare it to the “benefits” of the Mediterranean diet. I don’t think there is any value at all in restricting red meat and fat intake.
Anyway, I suspect that even if the correlation is causation, it’s not clear that it will work for everyone. If coffee has no discernible effect on me (which it doesn’t) other than making me brush my teeth more to get rid of the foul aftertaste, then it seems unlikely that I will derive any health benefits from choking the swill down.
Now They’re Coming For Our Food
Richard Fernandez describes the latest green disaster.
They are utterly ignorant of nutrition.
Red Meat
No, it doesn’t cause inflammation. It’s in fact a very nutritious food, despite the unscientific warnings against it.
Trans Tyranny
I wonder if this is Olive Garden policy, or just that restaurant?
Anyway, I’m sure that the same people who demand that we agree with their mental infirmities also demand “trigger warnings” if we’re going to say something they’ll disagree with.
