  1. I’ve always strongly believed that the “shelter in place” advice is horrifically wrong for an active shooter situation.

All it does is simplify things for the killer.

Plenty of good advice in the article. Thank you, Rand.

  2. Imagine trying to defend the advice after the fact at Sandy Hook…”run children, run!”. Maybe good advice tactically, but you lost “control” of the situation; where were the children? Who was in charge of them? Who was telling them what to do? Sure logically more of them might have been saved, but picture having to explain the ensuing “chaos” you caused by your “crazy” orders to run like hell to the investigators after the fact. And remember they are the ones who make the rules, the ones who know how something “sounds” or “looks” to lawyers, social workers, and other sundry “experts” who love to run our lives for us.

    1. Sure, such a situation would suck, but better to deal with second-guessers than be dead. Still, you have to wonder how many people will die in the future from any sort of emergency because someone was afraid to take responsibility just due to the perceived risk of second guessing from the authorities. We already have hurricane Katrina as an example of how wrong things can go even when a leader has a clear-cut decision to make and no risk of breaking the law. And people still make bad decisions in more routine medical and first aid cases even though they are shielded from most liability by law.

If you or I or anyone happened to be at Sandy Hook armed and engaged the lone shooter probably many lives would have been saved. Yes plain old untrained average citizen you or me; better than the shooting gallery of clay pidgeons cowering under their desks following “instructions”. Even if one of the kids had been shot accidently by said average joe, just encountering armed resistance and that piece of shit cowardly shooter would have likely crapped his pants and fled, even if you missed. But we would have crucified in the press/media afterwards for our “cowboy”, “Rambo” actions that “cost innocent lives”; the kids saved in this context would have been “hypothetical”.

They (the authorities) are more concerned with maintaining control of us serfs than the people who might have been saved. Imagine the Tampa Florida nightclub killings if only Florida’s law banning guns where alcohol is served had made exceptions for non-drinking permit holders; you know like say the bouncers/night shift manager who wouldn’t have been drinking anyway.

Katrina wasn’t the cluster truck portrayed by the media. This will shock you, it was mostly fake news manufactured to take down a Republican.

        1. “fake news to take down a Republican”–??? Oh, go on! That kind of thing NEVER happens in real life!
