        1. Maybe it depends on what you mean by politicize?

          Since new laws and regulations happen through the political process, calls for implementing them are inherently political. But you could also argue that the intent is not to enact laws and regulations but to use the emotions of the event for political purposes, like energizing your base, attacking and scapegoating opponents, and fundraising.

          This time, I didn’t see any specific proposals for legislation. The politicization centered on blame casting and scapegoating.
