On The Road Again

Heading to Florida in the morning for the mundane, non-landing Falcon 9 launch on Tuesday (though recent wind forecasts make me suspect it will slip to Wednesday), then down to south Florida to deal with another house we want to sell. Then back up to the Cape on Monday for what I hope is a Tuesday Falcon Heavy launch (which will be historic). From there, to DC on Tuesday night. I’ll be checking in from the road, but be good in comments.

Rand’s gone, it’s our chance to do keg stands and run around the blog naked. We can probably have it all picked up by the time he gets back.

You can never unsee somethings: run around the blog naked

Keep your pajamas on, and pass me the hose to the keg. Falcon Heavy launch will be a great reason to party!

  2. We could do simulated stage landings by throwing the empty kegs into Rand’s pool while he’s gone.

If it’s a failure we could drop a 1:1 scale model of a cherry red Tesla Roadster in Rand’s pool along with the empty kegs and wrap all his trees up in red tape! 😛

  3. Did anyone watch? I didn’t watch. I don’t mean the launch, because it was scrubbed. I haven’t watched in over a decade, because it always seems like pandering.

I assume you mean the SOTUS. Actually I did both. I watched most of it on my DVR after the fact, but while I was on the road I listened to it live. I have to say I had a Nixon/Kennedy debate moment. Trump sounds so much better on the radio that he looks on TV. He is not photogenic. But the radio SOTUS sounded great to me. If you wanted pandering you should have listened to Joe Jr.’s speech. I’ll bet he looked much better on TV than he sounded on the radio…

        1. Yeah, that was gross. Too bad for him that his party thinks people who look like him are the devil. His career will not climb higher unless he gets appointed to some position in a future Democrat administration but that’s about it.

      1. You know, about that watching; I do think that was part of what turned me off from SOTUS. It is so much theater, and really not the theater I would pay to see. Of course, it was generally freely broadcast, but I started to realize I could do other things. Then again, most entertainment media I consume these days is audio, not video.

I did read and listen to various recaps. It seems the President did a great job discussing “we” as a nation and our status. I heard the only pander was about lowering prescription drugs via cutting regulations, and I think that is good.

But of all the comments, this is the most shocking: “Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. ” – ACLU

WTF? A organization, whose name begins with the word “America” is complaining about the President of the US of America, using the word “America”, in a speech about the status of “America”. We need stronger people than this to protect civil liberties.

    2. There was pandering and it wasn’t much of a speech, as in there weren’t long periods of speaking. There were too many special guests in the audience. It was also too long. Overall it was OK but could have been better. Trump could have practiced his delivery more.

The cameras didn’t get too many shots of the Democrats, which was a good thing for the Democrats. I also wonder if the press will treat the hecklers the same way they treated the guy who said Obama lied.

In a few years the Democrats will look like NASCAR drivers with all of the patches, pins, stickers, and stoles they wear.
