Won’t matter, the people like me that stopped watching 20+ years ago aren’t coming back. So, when the audience stays at the same level as a middling YouTube vid, they’ll go back to pandering to the only audience they can attract. The one that thinks that something appearing on CBS or NYT is all the proof they need that it’s true, no matter how incredible.
It’s nice that CBS is making at least some effort to be an actual politically-neutral source of journalism, but, as you say, the victory is likely to be temporary and pyrrhic. The audience for traditional network and cable TV is dying off and not being replaced. The same is even more true of dead-tree media.
