  1. The link takes me to the OCRegister main page, but not to the article. Is this just me? Maybe the title or author’s name would help me find it.

  2. Reading that and the comments I had 2 thoughts:

    – How much spam will flag@whitehouse.com get? I hope a lot, either flooding the address into uselessness, or prompting a crackdown on spammers.

    – At the risk of a conspiracy theory, Is there some clause hidden in the ‘health care’ bill designed that those of us who truly value liberty can’t in good conscience comply with, thus turning true patriots into criminals?

  3. I see what he’s saying, but honestly, I find Mark Steyn’s glib pessimism annoying.

If things are as dark as he says, it’s no laughing matter. FWIW, I don’t think they’re that dark: I do believe that Obamism will be defeated. But if I didn’t, I’d still want to go down fighting, instead of making jokes about it and implicitly accepting it as inevitable.

  4. I should add that this is the case not only with Steyn, but with pretty much all the ex-Brit conservatives out there. I think that at some level they believe that if the good ol’ Union Jack couldn’t defeat socialism, why would this upstart country have a chance?

  5. If you have not read any of Steyn’s books, you should. It would change your opinion because he does call us the last, best hope for democracy.

  6. Aha! It seems that the link to the OC Register site works on my notebook computer (using Firefox), but not on my iPhone. How unfair, to those of us who like to stop by Transterrestrial Musings at odd moments while out on errands.
