To Roger Ebert.
Rand Simberg: just a recovering aerospace engineer.
To Roger Ebert.

A friend of mine is a “Nam Vet.” In truth he was mostly doing black ops all around SE Asia – terrible murderous work that he won’t talk about to this day. Well, he came-down with one of those viscous and rare diseases one contracts in the jungle that disabled and nearly killed him. His NDE was a complete epiphany — today he’s the nicest guy you possibly could meet. If there’s anything that could make me believe n a benevolent deity, it’s knowing this guy.
OTOH, Ebert makes me believe in the devil.

As I’ve often commented (perhaps, here, too) “Better a teabagger for liberty than a butt-boy for statism.” And Ebert–even shrunken, post-illness Ebert–gives the term “butt-boy” new dimensions.

Another moronic tool.

I gave up on the dumber half of Siskel and Ebert a long time ago, while they were still doing their schtick on PBS. Frankly, the only movie critic that I have much regard for is Stephen Hunter of the Washington Post.
