The Romney Inaugural Address

Heh:

We have learned from the last four years that it is a mistake to rely on each other and to work together. It is my firm belief that one man, by himself, can train the nation’s math and science teachers—and probably, if he really tries, the nation’s English teachers as well. One man, acting alone, can build all the labs and networks and roads we need. When he is not training those teachers. Yeah, I’m talking about the same guy. What we must resolve never to do is work alongside one another.

Has there ever been prior president so given to outrageous straw men and refusal to grant good faith to his political opponents?

    Um, Salman Khan?

  2. We see Obama apparently slacking off, what with all the vacations and golf*, but we really don’t realize just how hard it is to build all those strawmen. You think it’s easy? First, you need truckloads of straw and that doesn’t come cheap. Then you have to stuff the straw into old clothes or tie them into bunches to look human. That’s hard work and the straw gets everywhere, plus Michelle gets hay fever. It ain’t easy, I tell you. Not just anyone could do what Obama does, day in and day out.

*Obama does far less damage to the country when he’s playing golf than when he’s playing president. He should play golf more often.

  3. “Has there ever been prior president so given to outrageous straw men. . . .”

As I’ve noted here before, without the Straw Man Argument and the Argument from Pity, the Left would have hardly anything to say.

  4. Well… There is a common belief on the Left that government==large scale activities. Some of them are aware of the existence of large scale activities in the U.S. that are not part of Federal, state, or local governments. They regard them as undemocratic governments and think they have to be controlled by democratic means.
