When looking at the NGA story, one is struck by how willing some Governors are to whine about excessive Federal meddling in their affairs, but are then willing to run to Washington to fix all their problems.

The best thing the states could do is wean themselves from the Federal teat. Easier said than done, I know, but it's heartening to see at least a few governors having the stones to try.
