Keep An Eye Out

...for the first idiotarian to ask if we rescued Private Lynch, and haven't retrieved Spc. Johnson, because the former is white, and latter black.

[Update at 3:45 PM PST]

We already have a couple instances, as reported in the comments section.

Also, Dan Dickinson emails:

I will offer that Lynch was rescued because she was kept alive, while I will privately wager that Johnson was not. Americans do not know the first thing about racism and barbarism.

I pray that I am wrong about the fate of SPEC Johnson.

God bless them all

Yes, I hope you're wrong, but fear you're right.

Rand -
We already have one in the comments section at Winds of Change. The Lynch Rescue: The Dark With The Light

It makes me sad, when people live down to my expectations.

Does a Usenet post to rec.arts.tv count?

Rand,

I think the Democratic Underground forum pages actually might predate these, since they seem to have been posted last night, right after the announcement.

And, yeah, race was raised there, as well as the real tinfoil option that the entire thing (including the ambush of the convoy) was a CIA front, aimed at providing "good news" on a bad news day.....

Well, anytime you want to find the leading edge of idiocy, DU is the place to go...

Last night, minutes after I heard about a rescue, I mentioned it to someone in a store. His first question was "were they black or white." I'm in South Carolina.
