I tend to agree with him on the self-denigration of Western heritage. BUT...he has to go and wreck it with the Conservative lamentation: "... modern culture ... vulgar and shallow ... lacking in refinement, grace or beauty. It encourages ... social pathology; it mistakes libertinism for liberty."
I was half expecting him to get on to something about those evil jungle rhythms of rock and roll.

Ok, could do better, quite a bit of pop culture is tat (probably was back in the Renaissance, too). But some Conservatives appear unable to see that their attacks on the contemporary, as much as those of leftist po-mo multi-culti types, denigrate Western culture and society in the eyes of those inclined to oppose it?

Theodore, can you learn to play a new tune on that harp?
