Overreach?

This could be the excuse that Bush needs to back off from his support of an extension of the "assault weapons" ban. He said that he'd support renewal, but not an expansion.

No way on Earth the President signs up for this. Banning the M1 Garand as an assault weapon? I can't imagine we are that far gone.

I cautiously agree -- bearing in mind that he did sign a campaign finance deform bill that did not in any way resemble what he said he would accept.

Shotguns that hold fewer than 5 rounds? Most of the people that can afford an over/under shotgun aren't using them to commit crimes. And many state gaming commissions ban shotguns that hold MORE than 3 rounds when hunting. I sincerely hope that this administration doesn't renew the current bans, and I especially hope that they don't agree to this expansion.
