With Her Help, We'll Get Through Somehow

Jane Galt is writing what I know we're all feeling about the great tragedy.

Certainly, the world will never regain for us that quality of hope and magic which it once had, but with the passage of years our pain will ease. No matter how improbable it may seem to you in this terrible time, someday you will laugh again.

Hey, she's right!

She managed to lift my black spirits, and make me laugh today, despite all.

Um, Rand?

You do realize that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are real, live people who are probably feeling pretty miserable right now, don't you?

This is on the borders of poor taste.

It's like if you asked Priscilla Presley whether Elvis is really dead. (Warning: someone has actually been foolish enough to do this. The results weren't pretty.)

I suppose your analogy might have some weight if I personally sent a copy of this to Ben or Jennifer, but in any event, the target is not them, but the media that make such a huge deal of it, just because they're movie stars.

As for them, any time they want to drop out of the public eye, and give up their riches and fame for obscurity, they are free to do so. They seem willing to accept the benefits for now--they'll have to take the downside as well.

No Rand, you and Jane are wrong.

You are so very, very wrong.

Read if you dare, to know the hideous truth.
