For The Record

Glenn has an article at TCS today about private spaceflight and prizes. There's an error in it, however--he says that Burt flew his latest mission on the same day that he received his launch license. As this article by Leonard David correctly states, he got his launch license on April 1, and flew a week later, on April 8.

I think Glenn's oversight comes from reading accounts of both on the same day. I recall reading for the first time about the license being issued on the 7th (I don't think the article said it was issued on the 1st), then about the flight on the 8th.

Yes, I'm sure that is what confused him. The point was not to criticize Glenn, so much as to clarify the issue for those to whom it's important historically. It's really a nit in the context of the main point of the column, and I'm glad that he continues to bang this drum, given all his other interests.
