Kerry's "Dukakis In A Tank" Moment?

There's a pretty funny caption contest going on over here, based on a picture of Senator Kerry at Kennedy Space Center.

[Update on Tuesday]

More captions over at Happy Fun Pundit.

It'll only be such a moment if they find video. :-)

Actually, they have video. They were showing it last night, at least on Fox.

I fear the scariest part of this is that he looks like Nigel Hawthorne in a clean-room suit. And that leads to very confusing images about Democratic policy.

Actually I think the Dukakis tank picture was a low point of the '88 Republican campaign, and ranks right up there with Whoopi Goldberg's crude bush jokes. Could we stick to mocking the other side's policies, and leave mocking their appearance, manliness, dress code, sex habits, speech impedimenta et cetera in the gutter where it belongs?

I don't consider obscene jokes about a man's name, over which he has no control, comparable to jokes over a foolish photo op, which he could have prevented. Particularly when it's a photo op using an agency in which he's never previously expressed much informed interest, and didn't even on the occasion. Your mileage may vary.

And it's a mistake to just blame "Republicans" for this. This is guaranteed to be on the late night shows, regardless of anything that Karl Rove does.

Now the Dems are blaming NASA for the leaked photo! It is headlining the main page on Drudge right now!

Whaaaahhh! Poor widdle babies!
