Anybody want to bet that the second storm of next year's season will be called Bush? It could only be a Cat 2 at most, being conservative.

There was an interesting show on Discovery a few years ago, about how the hurricane season has 30 year cycles. The active cycle was just beginning again, so if the info is right, we're in for 30 years of more active seasons. The show didn't say anything about intensity though.

There is a reason though, that the population of Houston is so much higher than Galveston. The shoreside city was the place to be in Texas, until it was wiped out by a hurricane.

You would think, that after last year's Ivan near miss, the officials of New Orleans would begin to realize that their catastrophe plans were inadequate. Lessons learned now, I hope.

No, 'Beryl'.

2009 will feature 'Bill', however.
