Cap And Space

The late defense secretary may have saved the manned space program. I'm not sure that that's necessarily a good thing, in retrospect, but it puts the Nixon administration in a different light than the popular perception.

Om the other hand, the Nixon Administration cut the NERVA nuclear rocket program, even when it still had Congressional support....

Did anyone else ever read "Voyage" by Stephen Baxter? Neat alternate history based on Cap Weinberger convincing Nixon to kill the Shuttle and fund a Mars mission.
