I Wouldn't Have Apologized

I thought it was in fact pretty damned funny:

Rep. Steve King (news, bio, voting record), R-Iowa, was discussing the June 7 death of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi on Saturday when he mentioned 85-year-old Helen Thomas, who has covered the White House for nearly 50 years and is a columnist for Hearst Newspapers.

"There probably are not 72 virgins in the hell he's at," King said about al-Zarqawi, in a recording transcribed by Radio Iowa. "And if there are, they probably all look like Helen Thomas."

But then, I'm not a politician. And would probably be an utter failure as one.

Oh, and here's a shocker:

Thomas did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

I've seen Helen Thomas. He should apologize to Zarqawi.

I'm not a politician either, nor are the 280 million people in this country minus the X hundreds of members of the political faith, and I think that MOST would think to themselves "A- Fing MEN!"

Also, EFFING hilarious BDavis.

Now thats not funny, even Helen Thomas should get the benefit of the dpubt on her looks.

I'll bet she was something to see, back before electricity became all the rage!

Maybe he should have made the comments at the White House correspondence dinner.

Hilarious - if told to some buddies over a drink.

Told to a reporter during an interview? Geez. Good job making yourself look like a jerk.

If Rep. King wants to take a shot at Helen Thomas, he should at least find a legitimate method of insulting her.

If you deserve your face by 50, what's extra 45 years done to Helen Thomas?

Posted by slinkybender at June 22, 2006 03:17 PM

Tony Snow smacked her down good today at a press conference for interrupting him repeatedly.

In related news, a relative of Helen's passed away today, a younger niece named Harriet who was a native of the Galapigos islands

Reading these comments, I can't help but think what an ugly bunch of thoughts have coalesced about this blog entry and it's follow-ups. What a nasty place you have built here Rand.

Sorry, but Helen Thomas' real problem is that she's ugly on the inside--if that weren't the case, I doubt if many would criticize her exterior (at least here). If it's "nasty" to point that out, then so be it.
