Missed the Darwin Award by this much:
His girlfriend said Spangler decided to duct tape the large firework to the old football helmet. He then put on the helmet and ignited it.

Nah, they put out a book a while back for Darwin Award winners. The idiots that live (criteria for winning the award is death by stupidity) get the honorable mention. Either that or they're just practicing for another try.
