Irritating

I just did an interview with the BBC, along with John Pike (the embarrassing thing is that I suggested him, because they insisted on doing a "point-counterpoint" format), who continues to denigrate the notion of people doing what they want in space. I'll let you know when it airs, when I find out. Hopefully there will be some sort of webcast available.

[Update at 6:30 PM EDT]

It will be broadcast in half an hour, at 7 PM Eastern. Unclear if there will be a download later. If anyone listens, and can record, it will be appreciated.

[Update a little after 7 PM Eastern]

OK, not right at seven, but it's about to start.

[A minute later]

Sorry, false alarm. Not sure when it will start. I assume within the hour, but no way to pin it down better than that.

I did BBC World Service (same topic) today and they did not even bother to tell me when it would air. I guess I'll just wait for fan/hate mail from Kenya, Ecuador, and Hong Kong - and then I will know that it aired.

You guys do realize that BBC has a 'token honorarium' to all its interviewees (about $50 US), enough for a nice dinner out -- but you have to ASK for it, they do not volunteer the availability of the payment? When you DO explicitly say, 'And here's the address for the honorarium,' they usually respond, 'Fine -- and we need your SSN too...', as if they expected you to be a mind reader.

Well then they owe me something US$2000 for all the late night interviews I have done for their myriad of radio stations. I took them up on this honoraria thing several times. They never sent the check they promised. Like I said, it gets me more readers in Kenya and Bolivia....
