Avoiding Genocide

Armed Liberal has some thoughts on the administration's mishandling of the war with which I agree. Read the comments as well. Also, Chester writes about the end of nation states and America as a superpower.

This will probably come as a supposed shock by those who frequent your blog but refuse to actually read it. I expect they with still propagandize their own stuff while refusing to read the link and your comments, just as the link suggests many others have done on various other sites.

I rather liked this passage from Winds of Chaneg:

"President Bush's Second Inaugural Address made this case:

America's vital interests and our deepest beliefs are now one. From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth. Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self-government, because no one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave. Advancing these ideals is the mission that created our Nation. It is the honorable achievement of our fathers. Now it is the urgent requirement of our nation's security, and the calling of our time.

No one, apparently, hears that call, or if they do, there aren't enough of them."

But I disagree with this last sentence. George W. Bush indeed got the words EXACTLY right (compare with my prior comments here on the origins of Anglosphere exceptionalism) however many of us believe he either had his fingers crossed OR took a gentleman's "C" during the coursework at Yale that explained what they meant.

Nonetheless, Kudos to Dubya for getting the words exactly right, at least in this one paragraph.

= = =

Of note: GOP Rep. Tom Tancredo reads such words to suggest that Bush 43 intends to sell out the US into an EU-esque union with Canada and Mexico. Poor guy can't catch a break.

On the larger point, globalization does indeed threaten the Westphalian system of nation-states perhaps more forcefully that the explicit call of al Qaeda to disband the Westphalian system.

Perhaps the Vietnamese phrase "phuc tap" or complicated really does apply.

Eileen Fogarty demonstrates one route for the Anglosphere to expand.

Looks to me that the Vietnamese has been assimilated into the Anglospherian in this instance and Phuc Tap strikes me as a perfect word for the English language to steal, adding its Vietnamese meaning to the English sounds like meaning to create a larger, more rich and nuanced meaning.

But Simberg is the one arguing for more war
against iran and syria by this same group of
clowns.

It's the only group of clowns we have, Anonymous Moron. And they're better than the group of clowns that would be in there had Kerry won.

What's your experience in aerospace, besides being self-loading cargo for the airlines?

I am sure you dropped acid to watch the trip flares and had 'Purple Haze' blaring out from the TOC too.

Or moew likely made sure the BBQ grill at General Zoomies Golf reception was well-fueled as CAP Cadet anonyomus.
