Save The Sharks

No, really. And note, Joe Katzman and I are both avid divers.

It's amazing, to me at least, how the Asian mind works. How can you be so interested in the modern world, yet eat shark fin soup for it's "medicinal" effects. I'm floored. I'm sure that the PETA folks don't see the difference in a guy in Shanghai eating shark fin soup and me eating a steak. But I don't send out the butcher to lop off the steak and leave the rest of the cow to rot.

We have the deer population problem in some areas here in NC. It is however getting better I guess, apex predator wise. We now have coyotes here, maybe they like venison. Some of them are hunting cattle. But cows are slower than deer, so it's probably an easier meal.

Some Asians Steve, not all Asians. Chopping the head off a cow could be very bad for your health in India for example, even though vegetarianism is apparently losing out even among the Hindus.

It was the Buddha who first told us not to kill any living thing: not to kill any creature that feels pain. The Asian mind got it right a long time ago and apparently has lost its way in the modern world.

Here in the US, at least one of the fish farms within shipping distance carries mako shark in season. I would think that would be a far better solution, plus mako is delicious, it is similar to swordfish if you've had that.

Offside,
I said Asian when I should have specifically said Chinese. My mistake.
