Lazy (And Rude) Commenters

It took the fortieth commenter in this post to tell me that the first link was broken. As I note there, it simply confirms my long-standing observation that many commenters here respond only to what I write or excerpt, without troubling themselves to go read what I'm basing my comments on. For instance, Bill White didn't respond at all, instead using the opportunity to grab my bandwidth and disk space, and my readers' eyeballs, to post and link to blather from Barack Obama.

Often, of course, people who do this make fools of themselves, when I link to a satirical piece, because they don't have any idea what I linked to, instead just responding to the opposite of my point.

Here's a suggestion for everyone. Read more, and comment less, until you actually know what you're commenting about, and have had time to give it a little thought.

Simberg clearly doesn't understand that his job is to provide a means for the proles, including himself, to be enlightened.

Think of it as a web-based "fairness doctrine", whereas folks who can't get a willing audience get heard because they've rigged things so listeners/readers have no other choices.

If I notice a broken link in your posts, I'll usually point it out in a comment. If I can discern the correct link from a View Source, I'll usually provide the URL as well, altho I don't always bother turning it into a link.

Hey, I live for the opportunity.

Rand, your link to Zem is broken. Pearls of wisdom fall into the drink.

But Rand...

I live for the opportunity to convince Bill White to change his Iraq proposals from Murtha to Bush. How can I do that if he if he becomes thoughtful on his own?

*sigh*

It's like, I can't have ANY fun in someone else's sandbox anymore.

Respectfully submitted,

MG

Hey, when I find a bad link, I'll figure out the link and post it in the comment. And when you've blocked the link because it's a blogXpot.com (you know what to put in the X!) link, I just use tinyurl.com or somesuch. :-P :-D
