Another Job That Americans Won't Do

Maybe John McCain can get the "undocumented workers" to send him money:

McCain’s money-raisers are hard put to reach the $10 million goal set for the second quarter of 2008 by the June 30 deadline, after collecting $12 million in the first quarter. McCain raised $2 million in April and $3 million in May, and is expected to reach $2-3 million in June — falling short of the $10 million goal and of what his opponents have raised.

Boo.

Hoo.

Don't laugh. It would be a viable option for him. I suspect his problem is that his organization won't or can't do so without a popularity hit on the base, but now that he's out of the closet as an open borders guy he should go for it. Too bad he doesn't hable espanol. That's what got Bush2 over the hump.

McCain is a RINO, that's why the $$$ isn't coming in. So far the front runners are all RINOs, and they are splitting up the RINO dollars.

Come on Fred Thompson!!

The Republican party seems to be getting smaller and meaner.

"The Republican party seems to be getting smaller and meaner"

Don't worry, Fred will be along shortly to rectify any mistaken perceptions you might harbor.

Once it was George Bush, now Fred Thompson. There will always be a Fred to save the GOP, coming round the corner. McCain is clearly to the right of Lieberman on so many "conservative issues", but while the right has Joementum fever, the honorable and decent man that is McCain gets trashed. Just weird. And strange.

This has nothing to do with "right" and "left," and I don't know how "honorable and decent" McCain is, but regardless of his "honorable and decency," I find his contempt for the First Amendment of the Constitution despicable, and I think he'd be a terrible president.

"Joementum fever"?

Is Lieberman running for president as a Republican, or is this one of those "apples 'n' oranges" things I hear so much about?

Rand, I was responding to Steve's comment about all the RINOs; no intent to argue anything else.

Regarding the "open borders", folks, today's editorial in the Wash. Post on the immigration bill makes a lot of sense. Check it out. Personally I changed my mind on this about a month back, mainly after listening to the rhetoric on the extreme right, which made me see thw opposition as mainly racially motivated-as others have also mentioned on this blog and now support Bush/McCain/Kennedy.

McGehee, I guess I'm just in awe of Lieberman's divine stature at The Corner.

Personally I changed my mind on this about a month back, mainly after listening to the rhetoric on the extreme right, which made me see thw opposition as mainly racially motivated...

I don't see how one can draw this conclusion. While there are certainly racists on both sides of the debate, I find it repugnant to ascribe this as the primary motivation of opponents, even if I agreed with the bill. I think that both sides are sincere in their concerns about it, and there are many recent immigrants who are most concerned.

Frankly, when I hear arguments like this, it only increases my opposition to the bill, and the president and his supporters have only hurt themselves with such "arguments."

Offside :"made me see thw opposition as mainly racially motivated"

That is a errant and simplistic observation on your part.
