My Dark Secret

I not only liked Cream of Wheat, but I would deliberately make it lumpy. The lumps were the best part. Go ahead, call me crazy. The others, who liked theirs smooth and bland (or at least disliked it the least that way) weren't shy about it.

Also, who knew that the guy on the package was a Michiganian? I'd never heard of Leslie until I read his story, despite the fact that it was less than a hundred miles away from home.

Bill Cosby hated lumps in his Cream of Wheat.

We prefer to be called Michiganders.

We prefer to be called Michiganders.

As someone who spent the first half of his life there, speak for yourself.

I got tired of the "Michiganders/Portugeese" joke.

I doubt if there's a consensus on this, but if so, let Michigan natives chime in.

I love Cream Of Wheat, , although finding out that you made it lumpy on purpose confirms to me that you are a heretic, Rand.

Seriously though, while everyone is welcome to like/hate whatever foods they care to, to not like Cream Of Wheat...I dunno, something wrong there.

If you like the same taste with a coarser texture, just eat grits.

As a Michigan native until 3 months ago, I thought "Michigander" was correct too... of course in another few years, it'll be moot. I don't remember the Michigander/Portuguese joke Rand refers too, but I do remember the phrase, "would the last one out of Michigan please turn out the light" and truer now more than ever.

I used to do the cream of wheat thing. Now I'm all about the steel cut oats. Talk about blowing regular rolled oats completely out of the cereal bowl.

As a native Floridian we had a similar joke:

Will the last American to leave Miami please bring the American flag?

Make if it what you wish....
