A comedy piece? My first reaction but after a few minutes of reflection I wonder who will read this and take it as a true poitical platform. Someone surely will, probably an isolationist.

Sure the US has done some harm in the world, but on balance has done a lot more good than harm. There is little to apologise for and no reason to withdraw from any part of the globe. The presence of the US and its allies often brings some form of stability to troubled areas.

We have to learn to fight irregular wars efficiently and there are some signs that we are. High tech weapons don't really work on low tech societies; can't bomb back to the stone age people who have not really got out of it etc.

Let's not have any more introspective hand-wringing about image etc; where the hell is the pioneer spirit that built this country?
