To Know Him Is To Dislike Him

The more I learn about Huckabee, the less appealing he becomes:

Huckabee doesn’t just embrace big government in the form of big taxes. He truly appears to believe that if something is a good idea it should be a federal government program.

For example, having become health conscious while losing more than 120 pounds (a remarkable feat), he now calls for a national smoking ban. Because he believes that "art and music are as important as math and science" in public schools, he wants these programs funded -- and thus, directed and administered -- federally.

Huckabee is, incidentally, the only Republican candidate for president who opposes school choice.

And he was endorsed by the NEA in New Hampshire. Appalling.

I can't figure out why he even calls himself a Republican.

Probably because he's a devout Christian. He wouldn't be welcome in the national Democrat party with that handicap.

I'm afraid that the Republican Party is becoming less and less distinguishable from the Democrat Party. Big taxes, big government, big commitment, and more entitlements. Pity there are no viable alternatives:-(.

Nothing like a "true believer" health nazi being in charge of the buffet.

I think that at this point, I would put the candidates in the following order:

Thompson
Romney
McCain/Huckaby
Obama?
...
Clinton?

Hucksterbee is a RINO at best. He's a closet Dumbocrat that simply registered wrong way back when he was old enough.

I'm done with Arkansas Governors as President thanks. Other than the obvious differences in overt religiousness on one hand and sexual proclivity on the other, Hucksterbee looks like Clinton on paper. Then there's Hitlary and her problems of being even more of a commie than Bill was.

I'm still looking to Thompson.

Steve, If Bill Clinton was a commie, what does that make Alan Greenspan? Greenspan admired Clinton's grasp of economics and rated him the smartest President he worked with, and also the most consistent on economic policy.

Greenspan: commie sympathizer. Just like Rosenberg.

I agree that the previous Clinton had a fair graps of economics - but I don't think that applies to Hillary. Her health care plan is awful, and is the only thing I can think of that she has talked about that falls under economics. (It is really saying something to say that she could actually make things worse in the US health care system!)

DS, Greenspan placed Clinton at #1 and placed BushII at the very bottom. To be fair, I think you have to say that Clinton had more than a fair grasp of economics .
