Just an extreme example of the lunacy and denial on the part of the left about the Islamists.

It's cultural, it's because of colonialism, it's because of Palestine, because of Iraq, because of misunderstanding. Because of anything other than Islam.

Only a bigot would argue that every Muslim was violent or opposed to Western freedom. But only a coward or a liar would argue that there was not a profound and deeply worrying link between conservative Islam and myriad acts of terror, intolerance and hysterical anger.

It's not totally off base, I guess.
1. Ares is a successful society; theirs is not.
2. They are envious of our success, and hate themselves for their failure.
3. We are so successful that we can waste time and food on tasty, tasty Tur Ducken; this RUBS IN THEIR FACES that we are a lot more successful than they.
4. Their envy turns to hate.

Or something like that.

The problem isn't just Islamic fundamentalists. Any fundamentalist religious sect can and occasionally does get carried away.

It's just that, at the moment, the sect that's most likely to get carried away in a big way is Islam.
