Bad Reviews Get Results!

All the one-stars at Amazon by people who haven't read Jonah's book are not only being pulled down, but they're creating sales.

Plus the oftnever-told story of Teddy Roosevelt and Big Meat. You never heard this when you had to read The Jungle in school.

[Update Thursday night]

Since Glenn keeps bumping this link up to the top of Instapundit, some of the newcomers might want to look around at the rest of the blog. Lots of others fun stuff posted over the last couple days.

"Teddy Roosevelt and Big Meat"

That's what she said!

Not very "accepting" of other people's views when they hack the Amazon page. The freaks must really really really hate the thought of this book, considering such behavior is a 21st century version of book-burning.

Wait...maybe liberals really can be fascists! This won't sit well with those who think Bush is suppressing free speech.

Best 1-star review I saw was from a reviewer named "Jim".

Title of his review: "Don't need to read this to know it's terrible"

After getting slammed by several commentors for his lack of an actual review of the book, his review just up and disappeared.

"The more you resist us, the more we slip through your fingers."

I've been telling people for years that the most intolerant people in American are the 'tolerance police' (not that I expect any credit -- I should be so lucky; I also wrote publicly about America's 'Greatest Generation' before Tom Brokaw did!), so this is no surprise to me. Nonetheless, I couldn't help further the numbers a bit by ordering the book...

Right now, the positive ratings are greatly exceeding the negative ones. Amazon must have been busy.

Instead of getting the book through the meglo-mart Amazon, I paid about US$22 at my independant local, non-mall, non national chain, bookstore.
Call me naturally serendipitious.

The five star reviews, (as well as the "splodie head ones) at Amazon certainly influenced my decision to buy Liberal Fascism before it was
mis-quoted, and "taken out of contex" to death.

Yeah, Big Meat!

My Amazon copy came yesterday and I'm just looking for time to read it. I know just by the caterwalling on the left that the book is great - plus, I listened to the entire podcast Goldberg did with Glenn & Helen. Libs are scared of this book because the history is both undeniable and flies in the face of all we've been taught.

Amazon is removing negative zero-content reviews of a conservative book? Surely the end times are upon us.

Posted by jaed at January 10, 2008 05:03 PM

Amazon taking down the 1-star reviews kind of blew me away. Jonah put up my incredulous note.

I spent a lot of yesterday commenting in the 1-star reviews (mostly verbal dagger-thrusts against poo-flinging chimpanzees), and was getting a big kick out of it. Late yesterday, I began to notice that the 1-star reviews were disappearing. By noon today, they were all gone.

Pity that. As I remarked to Jonah, the downside to the disappearing 1-star ads was that "All the brilliant, sarky responses will be lost...in time. Like tears...in rain./(Yes, I'm watching "Blade Runner - The Final Cut".)".

And please don't get the impression the we're buddies. Not at all. I'm but a warrior for the working-day. I saw a decent book getting a Coulter-like reception, and I decided to comment back.

I have never done this before, but has anyone bought a book and had it directly delivered to their local library? I'm willing to do this to make it available for people that might not read it otherwise. Shoot, even if no one reads it, just having it sit there on the new releases table in front for everyone to see would be worth it.

...just having it sit there on the new releases table in front for everyone to see would be worth it.

Not to discourage anyone from doing it, but what are the chances that a member of the American Library Association would actually give it such placement?

I'll be going to my local bookstore tonight to see how easy it is to find.

But here's a serious question: look at #15 (as of today):

Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Fifth Edition
by American Psychological Association

Does anybody believe that those tomes are flying out the store like swallows? Any ideas?
