Is That A Lobster In Your Pants?

Or are you just happy to see me?

He's lucky--the Australian bugs don't have claws.

What I wouldn't give for someone to import Morton Bay Bugs into the U.S. Best lobster I ever tasted. Just chop it in half lengthwise and put it on the grill..... yum...

And some yabbies, too.... that's a real shrimp!

Are Moreton Bay bugs considered lobsters? They didn't look like it to me when I had some in Surfer's Paradise. They looked like trilobytes, actually.

The Moreton Bay Bug, Thenus orientalis, and the Carribean Spiny Lobster, Panulirus argus, share the same taxonomy down through their Order, Decapoda. After that, they're in different families.

Of course, that's also the same Order as Penaeus monodon, the Tiger Shrimp generally used for "Jumbo Shrimp" in restarants.

So, that said, I guess they're not "Lobsters" as we think of them, but they are commonly known as shovel-nosed lobsters.

I'm no taxonomist, though...

Too bad I can spell and type "taxonomy", but not "restaurants"...

I know where this guy went wrong. He should have worn a Dinner Jacket.

Nobody would have stopped a guy wearing a White Sport Coat and Pink Crustaceans.

...don't forget to try the veal, I'll be here all week.
