"Like Rapture For Geeks"

Why chicks don't dig the singularity. It's a long, but interesting read.

I have a bumpersticker saying "In case of Singularity, this car will be AI controlled."

They proabally don't dig it because they will be obselete.

Remember the Dennis Miller joke about the holodeck?

I don't think women are, in general, actively hostile to the singularity idea. It just that, given our technogeek babble way of describing it, many women just consider the singularity to be a "boys with toys" thing and consider it to be irrelevant.

Hell, I'm a (male) long-term computer geek, SF fan, and historical recreationist, and I don't dig the "singularity" either.

(Also, RU Sirius is still alive? I'd assumed that by now he'd fried his brain completely with random nootropics or something.

Then again, I remember when Boing Boing was a magazine...)

Maybe they don't dig it because it's a joke?

I remember having idea-salad conversations like this interview in college, late at night, when we were all drunk or stoned.

Oh look! Another thread about the Singularity, when intelligent machines will be developed that will radically transform the zZZZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZ
