Still No Linux Joy

OK, is it just me? Even after fixing my Amazon search problem by moving it to the center column, it is still not showing up in Firefox in Fedora. Can anyone else running that browser/OS confirm the same problem? If my computer is the only one in the world that doesn't see it, I can deal with it, but I'd hate to think that a lot of my readers aren't.

Suse 10.1 and firefox 2.0.0.8 and I see it just fine. That should at least help narrow it down.

I don't see the search bar. All I get is Jonah's book. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.11 on Windows XP SP2. Maybe it's a problem with one of the recent security fixes in Firefox and not OS-specific.

It's being blocked by adblock. See my comment on your previous post.

OK, so why does adblock block it in the template, but not in the post?

Posted by Rand Simberg at December 16, 2007 07:27 PM

Fedore Core 6, Firefox 1.5.0.12 and adblock, it shows up fine.

"OK, so why does adblock block it in the template, but not in the post?"

I haven't a clue. I just strongly suspect that adblock is the culprit in these shenanigans. If you could remove adblock from Firefox and then try it, that should give you some useful information.

This: http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=transterrestr-20&o=1&p=27&l=qs1&f=ifr
is what adblock is blocking in my Firefox.

I hope this helps.

Well, that's the URL for the search box. It has to be there for me to get credit for purchases.

As far as I know, I don't have adblock installed. Isn't it an extension?

Posted by Rand Simberg at December 18, 2007 10:32 AM

Adblock is an extension.

Damn, I should have previewed that. As that screenshot I posted shows, it should be very obvious whether you are running adblock or not.
