  1. The only question is how fast his support burns out; if he slow-burns, he gives a seat to the Democrats, if he flames out, it’s just an extra payout to the media/advertising/consultant jackals who get paid three times for the full campaign instead of the usual two times.

Now that I think about it, I’m surprised the beltway bandits haven’t been pushing third-party spoilers more than they have the last ten years or so. You’d think they’d be drowning in their own saliva at the prospect.

    Two words: Ralph Nader.

Democrats believe that, had Nader not been on the ballot in Florida in 2000, Gore would have won the state and thus the presidency — without the spectacle of giving chads the rabbit test to see if they’re pregnant or just dimpled..

  3. It is interesting how “not being able to win my party’s primary” has become “my party is being taken over by wing nuts”.

  4. Crist is a total, self-serving weasel, and now even complete idiots know it. Where he’s really going to get killed is in fund-raising.

Here’s hoping he disappears completely after this. What an awful governor he has been!

I’m voting for Rubio. He’s not perfect, but he beats the hell out of the alternatives.

  5. He’s toast. He’s a fraud and fraudulence isn’t selling well this year. I think that by switching to “Independent” status he is probably going to alienate more voters than he attracts.

AFAIK the only good thing he’s done as Governor was pardon a crippled man who was victimized by the state for using more opiates against pain than a prosecutor thought appropriate. Meanwhile he’s done real harm, including by supporting legislation that has driven property insurers from the state and puts FL taxpayers on the hook for unlimited damage claims after the next big hurricane disaster.

If the MSM had waited to call the election after the Florida Panhandle finished voting Bush would have gotten 25,000 more votes there. There would have been no question about him winning Florida and hence the Presidency. Wouldn’t have mattered if Nader was in the race or not. It was the early call, with tens of thousands still in line to vote, that threw 2000 into turmoil.
