If John McCain were doing this, the press would be crying bloody murder:

And there seem to be a lot of parallels with the voter registration fraud being perped by ACORN. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
And of course, if McCain ends up losing this because he didn’t have enough money, it will be justice, because it was his idiotic assault on the First Amendment that got us here.

The real problem is Nobody wants to give to the McCain
camp or the Republican cause. The RNC, NRCC and RSCC are
all wildly underperforming in fund raising, compared to
Democratic committees.
If you want to do something, move to lower the reporting
limit to $49/ person or require committees to collect
a SSN from each person who donates so it can be validated
by the IRS.
Frankly Obama has raised an amazing amount of enthusiasm
from individuals it’s why there are large campaign events,
such as 75,000 people at denver or 100,000 at St Louis.
No, James, it’s demonstrably true. If you have a valid credit card number, you can go to the Obama campaign site, plug in any name you choose and the transaction gets done. A lot of people have done this as a test over the past few days and a lot of others – names and places of residence unknown – have done it over the past few weeks. That “campaign” swing Mr. O made through Europe looks a lot more comprehensible now. The socialists of the world are funneling money to their boy and nobody on this side of the pond is saying boo about it except we spoil-sport non-fans of Eurosclerosis. The great dream of the Democratic Party’s left wing – to substitute the will of electorates more to their ideological liking for that of the American one – is, at least financially, now in progress.

There’s also the problem of disposable credit cards that can be bought for cash.
And yes McCain is an idiot.
The only good to come out of this so far? McCain’s delusions about his good relationship with the media and his pride in McCain-Feingold have both taken a hammering.
