  1. I love the idea they propose, to make a “national bank to make interest-free loans to small companies,” but then also turn around and tax away those companies’ money with higher tax rates on the owners and investors, those “greedy rich people.”

I guess with leftists it’s always better to feel good than to think well.

  2. “The basic platform for such a candidate is clear:

Unequivocally call for an immediate end to the presence of U.S. troops, advisers and private U.S.-based security firms in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, and replace the “war on terror” with a Global Marshall Plan that roots homeland security in a strategy of generosity and concern for the well-being of everyone on the planet.

Domestically, call for a massive jobs program; a freeze on mortgage foreclosures; a national bank that would offer interest-free loans to those seeking to create or expand small businesses; immediate implementation of the parts of the Obama health-care plan that would benefit ordinary citizens and build support for a health plan for all citizens; dramatically lower prices for drugs that treat critical diseases such as AIDS and cancer; a strong tax on carbon emissions; and immediate prosecution of those government employees involved in torture or coverups to justify the invasion of Iraq.

This candidate should push for the media to provide free and equal time to all major candidates for national office as well as for constitutional amendments requiring only public financing in elections and, separately, for corporations to prove every five years to a jury of ordinary citizens that they have a satisfactory history of environmental responsibility (as is sought by the Environmental and Social Responsibility Amendment, or ESRA, advocated by the Network of Spiritual Progressives).”

Wow, he managed to create a list of priorities that I can disagree with in its entirety.

    That’s quite an accomplishment.

Oh, I think he forgot to add free unicorn rides and fluffy bunnies for all children.

  3. He also forgot the uniforms and caps with a little red star on front. Or should that be a blue star now? And I agree Barbara, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

  4. Speaking as someone who wants a Republican to win, I say that Republicans should be pleading with the dems not to do this… showing them how terrified we are of this strategy of pushing Obama to the left so he’ll trounce us in 2012… quaking in my boots, I am…

Please, oh please, Dems.. don’t throw us into the brier patch…

  5. A central bank making interest free small business loans and more taxes, sounds like a scheme to launder the printing of more money.

  6. Don’t these nitwits realize they lost the midterms by proposing much of the same agenda. This is beyond delusional. It indicates that people who think like this at some point in their lives have suffered from anoxia and subsequently brain damage.

  7. As I recall, one of the few specific things Obama promised to do if elected was to escalate the war in Afghanistan. His supporters are then surprised when he did it? Or did they think he was just lying in order to get elected? If the latter, was that okay with them?

I wonder how insular an existence a person has to live in order to think this load of crap is “populist” in character?

  8. No sane person would argue that, having been rejected as too far left in the last election, the political salvation of an ‘Obamam majority’ would lay in moving further left. The truth behind this argument is that what the left wants is crises and confrontation, not political majority. It appeals to their romantic revaloutionary selfimage to be storming the barricades.

  9. ACTually, this might help him (not an actual challenge but a bunch of libs calling for it that is)… A sudden appearance of a bunch of Democrats even more liberal than Obama would make him look more centrist by default and assist him with the Clintonian triangulation the libs secretly hope he’ll pull off.

He concedes on tax cuts, he looks moderate, he gets beat up by liberals for it, he looks even more moderate, meanwhile all the debate over the tax cuts, no one notices he’s continuing the drilling ban and trying do cap and trade by agency fiat and bypassing Congress.
