  1. There’s something about tyrants that people admire. There must be. Just a few posts ago, you had someone holding up Napoleon as a model for future world leaders. Adoration of absolute power and obedience, I would submit that these are far better candidates for the root of all evil than money.

    1. Ams,
money is not the root of evil. The correct quote is, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.

    2. Ams,

You either misread the article or didn’t read it at all. The author (Meade) did not hold Nappy up as a model for future world leaders. The article was quite critical of L’Empereur.

      1. Ams,

I see there are two different ways to interpret “Just a few posts ago, you had someone holding up…” if the someone was the Meade and the post was his article then my comment stands. If you were referring to someone who replied in that thread – my apologies.

    1. A lot of people I know admire Don Vito Corleone and his offspring Don Michael. And wish to be like them.

I think a lot of this is due to people not really making anything of themselves *in their own eyes*. They wish status and the respect – maybe fear – that comes with it.

  2. Che is kind of like that character in “Serenity” who commits murder in order to create his vision of a perfect world. Only, Che did it for real and expected to now only live in that “perfect world” but to rule over it. He was a monster. He murdered many people and ordered the murder of many more. He’s no better than the brutal concentration camp guards that sent millions to their deaths.

Whenever I see someone wearing a Che shirt, I’m seeing either someone ignorant of history or someone who knows and approves of what he did. I worry about the second group more than the first. Given the opportunity, they would line me up against a wall, but not without a fight.

    1. Probably something like what other “useful idiots” felt when they were deemed no longer useful and lined up against a wall. “Wait, Comrade! There must be a mistake! I’m one of you!”

      1. “If only Stalin knew”

That was a common sentiment among loyal Communists who were sent to the gulag. It must have some kind of mistake.

  3. Fortunately we live in a country where the communists willing to kill for the greater good are vastly outnumbered by those who are willing to kill communists for fun and sport. ^_^

    1. I wonder if there’s a market for ‘Commie Skin’ boots or shoes? It would have to be marketed to women. Most guys just won’t wear red shoes!

  4. So are there any admirable murderers-for-the-greater-good?

Spartacus? Nat Turner? John Brown? Menachem Begin?

    1. Earlier, I’ve always thought of Jim as just an American Lefty. Now, he has just made a post in support of communist executioners.

  5. That article in that Irish newspaper doesn’t have a comments section. Methinks that writer would get ass-raped in the comments.

    Jim said:

Only as long as they win. I haven’t seen any Che Rommel or Che Hitler shirts.

  6. I see that there is a “Mao’s Kitchen”. What we should have is the “Mao and Hitler’s Barbeque Joint”. Tonight on the menu there is:
“Chop Suey Citizen and Barbeque Jew”
