  1. In a May speech at the National Press Club, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka threatened to reduce support for the Democratic party and launch “an independent labor movement” if Democrats didn’t more fully support the union agenda.

Probably pure hot-air. “An independent labor movement” with a shrinking number of people in it and a shrinking budget? Right.

Still, this has the potential to become interesting. There are so many internal conflicts between labor, green, and la-raza-open-borders types that any movement toward independence from any of them could start a cascade. Which would be fun to watch.

  2. What I’m hearing is that the unions are furious at Obama for a lot of things, such as pandering to the enviros by blocking Keystone (which they supported) and then, when they needed help in Wisconsin, avoiding it totally. Obama’s statement that he was too busy, coupled with the fact that he overflew the state several times in the final weeks going to and from his many fundraisers (many of them in adjoining states), is seen as a slap in the face. I’m not surprised they are pulling support, and make no mistake, this will hurt, a lot.

    Pass the popcorn!

  3. “Some candidates will get more, some less, some the same — but overall we’ll be focused more on spending resources to build our own structure [that] works for working people instead of others’ own structures.”

Oh brother, if THESE rats are leaving the Good Ship Obama, only the Captain and his inner Ward Room are clinging to the mast and their feet are getting wet!

You’d think the AFL-CIO would support the evil Republicans who want to own, start and run businesses, which then HIRE more people and in big union states that means more union jobs.

    Duh.

I never understand Liberals who say that Conservative Business People are JUST about making more money and making their businesses bigger. As a long time business runner and owner, I’ve never done so without hiring more people (who spend their paychecks and increase those businesses ability to hire and buy more product) and I’ve then begun purchasing equipment (and that supplier has to hire more people and buy more product) and it goes on and on with more businesses NEEDING more people and more pieces / parts to sell ME the stuff I need.

I’m pretty sure there’s a ‘term’ for that, but Econ 101 was a LONG time ago!.

    1. Well obviously Der Schtumpy, you’re just one of the evil rich fat cats… and would you like to contribute to the ‘Forward into the past’ campaign of our fearless leader? He still has a heaping, steaming pile of hope and change for ya.

The private sector is doing so fine that we are going to pile the government load even higher and heavier upon those evil rich fat cat TAKERS!!! We are the party of good redistribution GIVERS!!! Can’t you see my halo? Now bend over and take it.
