  1. You didn’t provide a link. Impressive resume:

Gabrielle is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy who served as a fighter pilot and intelligence operations officer in the U.S. Navy from 1997-2009. She flew a single-seat, carrier-based F18 in combat operations and was later deployed with a U.S. Special Operations team as an intelligence officer supporting combat missions.

  2. ““When Defense Secretary Les Aspin ordered the services to drop restrictions on women flying combat missions in 1993,”

That was an action that quite a few in conservative media and politics bitterly opposed.

        1. If it had been up to liberals, she wouldn’t even be allowed to vote. Even Eleanor Roosevelt campaigned against women’s suffrage, probably upset that Susan B. Anthony had been arrested for putting on pants and voting a straight Republican ticket.

          1. Can you cite that ER campaigned against womens suffrage?

            http://www.gwu.edu/~erpapers/teachinger/lesson-plans/notes-er-and-womens-movement.cfm
“Determined to be heard, ER redoubled her efforts. By 1928, she not only organized one of the most successful get- out-the-vote campaigns in state history but had also called for women political bosses. “Women must learn to play the game as men do,” she wrote for Redbook magazine. By 1936, ER and Molly Dewson’s organizing and internal lobbying produced 219 women delegates and 302 women alternates.”

          2. Hrm. I must’ve confused her campaigning against it the what she scathingly expressed later about how it was a big mistake, and that women just aren’t ready to make such political decisions.

          3. The funny thing is when you click Lying-Guy’s link you can read: ER, who only supported woman suffrage after FDR endorsed it and who had never worked in a suffrage campaign, joined the League of Women Voters in 1920.

Meaning her and her husband joined just as the 19th Amendment was set to pass. They bet on the winning horse once it was in the home stretch. Meanwhile, cousin Kate Roosevelt lead the NY anti-suffrage movement.

        2. “If it had been up to conservatives, She wouldn’t have that impressive resume.”

She would have had a *different* impressive resume. People like her achieve one way or another. That’s who they are.

And your daft comment betrays more of your drone thinking:

          that government gives all
          and that there is only ONE way;
and that people do not find ways to get achieve regardless of government roadblocks.

….that is if your random synapse firings can be considered thinking.

You really do not understand people. Time to get out of your parent’s basement.

        3. It was FDR that created the WASPs and then disbanded them. Women wouldn’t be allowed to fly US military aircraft for over 30 years after that. Barry Goldwater advocated for women military pilots because he knew many WASPs from WWII.

    1. Les Aspin also supported Reagan on aid to the Contras, which we know Lying-Guy loves to mention. Aspin also created “don’t ask, don’t tell”. So, it would be interesting to know Lying-Guy’s point.

  3. Les Aspin is also likely most responsible for the fiasco in Somalia in October of 93 aka the Battle of the Black Sea…aka…Blackhawk Down.
