  1. As a relevant aside, what pay grade and level of authority is that? And how many people held that position at the time that the letter was written? I bet all that is amenable to an FOIA request. Googling around, it appears Taylor D. August’s previous job in 2011 was as a “director” of the Dallas Office for Civil Rights office (a part of the Department of Education).

    So it’s probably a better position than a low to possibly mid-grade management position in the Department of Education. That should give us an indication just what priority the Obama administration places on routine information denial to the public.
