Light Posting

I’m going down to Long Beach in a few minutes for the Space Tech Expo today and tomorrow. Then on Thursday I’ll be flying to DC for the ISDC. I’ll have my laptop with me, but not sure how much posting I’ll be able to do. It’s the first space conferences I’ve attended since the beginning of the plague, so I’ll have a lot of networking and catching up to do. Consider this an open thread, and be good in comments.

    1. Errr… so, payphones are being replaced in NYC with “wireless kiosks” for “free Wi-Fi.”

So, instead of needing some pocket change, all you need is a device costing a grand or so, and I have no doubt that somebody (taxpayers) are somehow footing the bill for this particular bit of idiocy.

      1. You left off the VPN annual subscription fee as well. This kind of nickel and dime action would keep you at the coin slot a very long time.

Ah you don’t have to buy a 1000$ device, maybe try something like this

Or if that too big and you jonzing for the Cupitino overpriced crap this also works and you can get 5 for the price you quoting.

    2. Think one should apply to Titan or whoever owns those pay phones to buy one or both of those two phones and for some provenance. Owning one or both of the last two pay phones in NYC must have some kind of collector’s value.

  1. Is it stupid to worry that next Monday night’s ultra mega meteor storm would be a good time to launch a first strike?

    1. Yes. Cause missile launch detection uses satellites that look down at the Earth, not up and expect certain points of origin and not starting at 17000+ MPH at launch.

  2. Now that Jeff Bezos has joined Elon in publicly mocking Biden, I doubt we will see much progress in the aspects of spaceflight the Federal government controls until there is a Republican president and Congress.

    1. I’m sure the FAA can find a rare armadillo species that lives in the desert 25 miles north of Van Horn that needs protection…

  3. I, for one, am not too upset about the shooting in Uvalde, TX.
    1) The left wants to defund the police – this is what you get.
    2) These false flag shootings aren’t about saving lives – they’re about separating the citzenry from their GOD given right to bear arms. 100 people (probably a few children) die in car accidents everyday, but you don’t hear Sleepy Joe and terrible nasty AOC threatening to take cars away.
    3) Most of the deaths were children who hadn’t really contributed to society anyway. It’s not like 21 Elon Musks died.
