Next: An Institute On Marital Fidelity

Bill Clinton is going to head up an Institute on Civil Discourse.

No, really.

[Update a few minutes later]

Per comments over there, I’m not the only person appalled that this “Institute” is being based on the false narrative that what happened to Gabby Giffords had anything whatsoever to do with civility in discourse.

  1. Let’s not forget the fact that this Stalin wannabe led a pogrom against America’s legal gun owners. To this day, every time I meet a new person, there’s a part of my mind going, “Were you one of the supporters of the Clinton antigun pogrom?”

  2. George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton will oversee the National Institute for Civil Discourse in Arizona, sparked by the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Might I suggest them opening an annex in Madison, WI?

  3. I’ll admit that GHW Bush was pretty much known for his civil discourse. (At least among those of us who didn’t think he was either Hitler or a chimpanzee.) But I don’t see that it got him anywhere. One would think he’d have learned, by now, the value of responding in kind.

  4. I’m telling you, as God is my witness, I heard a snippet of this on drive time talk radio this AM, and I thought it was a joke!!!! To be proven wrong is bad enough, but Bill Clinton and civility in the same STATE is a stretch of imagination.
    .
And then, it’s all going to be tied to the shooting of Rep Giffords.

HUH?!!!? The last time I saw this kind of weirdness, was 30 years ago…a weekend camp out, tie dye, lots of vw vans and pickup trucks with homemade camper shells, the Grateful Dead and I’m pretty sure mushrooms and herbs were involved, and not all in cooking. But even THEN, I knew deep down that some of what I was seeing…wasn’t real!!

Poor Gabby, to actually be tied to this stupidity and she had to get shot for the tie in.

(and WT% is Daddy Bush thinking? Certainly he can find better things to do during retirement. Wal-Mart needs Greeters. That’d be better than hangin’ out with Slick Willy touting civility while Obama drags us to ruin via his non civil minions.)

  5. I hope they pick Carville to lead it.

Funny story, friend of mine who went to school with a collegue of Carville’s says that ole James doesn’t himself believe half the garbage he spouts. He just does it because it makes the checks cash.

  6. lolwut? Is this a joke? Did George Soros finally up and die? Did Media Matters, Talking Points Memo, FactCheck, HuffPo, Daily Kos, ThinkProgress, DU and every other leftwing switchbox suddenly drop off the face of the Earth? My god, you can’t swing a dead cat around here without hitting the latest “progressive” Flavor-of-the-Month anymore…

  7. It’s the new meme. In internet forums they post an article with a title like “Far Right Wing Republicans Seek to Institute Child Slavery for the Production of Neutron Bombs” and then demand that you be civil discussing the subject.

  8. As a current University of Arizona student this make me writhe in shame especially since they have been touting it in the daily university emails. Thankfully, this is my last semester.

  9. Dennis,
    ROFL!!!! Thanks, I needed that.

(I’m NOT having a good week…I just discovered how to beat $3.00 a gallon gas…dropping the transmission out of my van seems to have slowed my usage considerably)

The idea that ANYONE wearing a Democrat Hat would, straight faced, use the words Civil and Discourse in the same sentence should make them available for a Best Acting Oscar! For comedy at that.

  10. In left wingnut bizarro world (the world of Pelosi, Reed, and the occupier of the white house) telling a critical truth about a leftist is uncivil hate speech, while slandering a conservative is the highest of civility.
