  1. Hilarious!

I can only assume your humor wavefunction must have collapsed to the unfunny eigenvalue.

  2. I have a sudden urge to say “And now is zee time on Shprockets ven vee dahnce!”

The circuit diagram is a good one too.

  3. I was just telling the kids about the “I haven’t been in class all semester” dream a few nights ago. Hilarious that cartoon 557addresses it!

I did a survey of friends a relatives some time ago. Everyone apparently has that dream from time to time.

  5. Is this joke un-explainable? ’cause I’m begging for it to be explained.

    PLEASE?!

  6. LOL, Alan.

All right, DS, at the risk of verschränkung, I will explain how I interpret it.

The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics says that, until it is observed by a conscious entity, a particle actually exists in all the states allowed by the wave equation. Only when it is observed does it actually assume the single observed state. It is said that, at this point, the wave function “collapses” to the observed state.

Schrodinger’s famous critique involves… well, it’s complicated. Just read the link.

In any case, the comic strip is therefore both funny and unfunny, until you reach the last panel and see how it ends. The gist is, at the end panel, the wave function collapsed to unfunny which, of course, is funny if you consciously found it otherwise.

Hopefully, this little explanation has collapsed the wave function in your reality.
