  1. Obama should just say “The beatings will continue until morale improves” and leave the building. But that would be dishonest – improved morale won’t stop the beatings.

I’d rather listen to a Charlie Sheen rant than SOTU.

  2. No, I can’t drink that much.

I’ll bet he lined up those strawmen and knocked them down like dominoes, though.

  3. I witnessed about half of it at a bar with the sound turned off. Then they turned the sound on. It was painful before…

What was with the swooping cameras? Did someone hire NFL camera teams to provide pool video? And was it just me, or was there a camera set up with a filter to show rays reaching down from Heaven to touch the Lightworker as he spake unto the assembled multitudes?

    1. Mandating that kids can’t drop out is an interesting solution, it should do wonders for test scores. Not sure how this can be enforced. Cops should have better things to do.

      1. Most states already have laws requiring students attend until age 16. Modifying them to age 18 would not be that big a deal and actually would bring them in line with the legal minimum age under contract law amd voting law. Its actually amazing it wasn’t down decades ago.

  4. I think the Star Wars Prequels made more sense then this speech. And the whispering, oh god the whispering has got to stop. I guess he was attempting to channel more of that Teddy R. talk softly and carry a big stick schtick. One of my comments actually made it onto the Ace of Spades live chat, “This speech is a shotgun blast loaded with bullshit in the hopes that something actually sticks.”

  5. I would just as soon have multiple root canals without pain killers as listen to Obama speak for even one minute. God forbid that he gets reelected and we have to go through 4 more years of his smug lies.

  6. There simply wasn’t enough booze in this hemisphere to make it possible for me to listen to that speech……

  7. I try to make time listen to every SOTU address. What the President of the United States says matters even when I do not agree with or even like the man. The fact that the president is a communist, or a womanizer, or is stupid, or a patriot, etc. does not change the fact that he is my president. I am an American and I benefit from hearing what our president says. Even when it is lies it helps me to focus my voting and campaigning efforts. Hearing the speech makes it easier for me to speak intelligently about it.

I did like many of the things he said, unfortunately I do not believe that he believes those things. I wish that not only our president but all of our elected and appointed officials believed that the US government should only do for people those things they cannot do for themselves. Sadly, few if any of them do believe any such thing.

    1. Obama’s speeches are for low information voters, people who don’t care to follow his actual actions which rarely line up with his rhetoric.

  8. “I wish that not only our president but all of our elected and appointed officials believed that the US government should only do for people those things they cannot do for themselves. Sadly, few if any of them do believe any such thing.”

Or they believe it but also believe the people are stupid and ignorant and don’t know how to do for themselves…which is another way of saying they cannot do for themselves.
