  1. The first rule of AM radio is to be suspicious of anyone that says, “I have been a lifelong X but…”

  2. … and he gives the guy an iPad? How weird is that? Apple ad and all. I smell a paid plug and set up.

I admit it would be nice if it _was_ real.

  3. I heard it too and I’d bet my last dollar it was heartfelt and authentic. If not, the caller deserves an Oscar, Tony and whatever else is available for great acting – you had to be there!

  4. The guy is a truck driver, so he’s stupid. And he made his decision based on Keystone, and has his facts all wrong. Keystone not only will not add any jobs, it will increase unemployment by 2%. And the added 1 million barrels of oil a day will decrease the United States’ oil supply. So Obama nixing Keystone is actually the salvation of the country, and we should all stand in awe of his genius.

Finally, he’s not really black because he is not going to vote for Obama, and is thinking of not being a Democrat.

Have I got all that right Jim/Bob-1/Chris/Tom?

      1. I’m going to elaborate. It was your comment about race that annoys me.
If I called you a racist (and out of the blue, with no provocation), you’d be annoyed too, right?

        1. He pre-empted your race card Bob and made sport of your side doing it. Now you are whining because he stomped all over your race card..

Hold on while I stop laughing so hard…..

        2. I’m going to elaborate. It was your comment about race that annoys me.
If I called you a racist (and out of the blue, with no provocation), you’d be annoyed too, right?

What happens if it’s not out of the blue? Say like something you’ve been doing for years on this site?

          1. See http://www.transterrestrial.com/?p=38653

Here are two quotes from it.

First, here’s me: “when I hear people say “The Tea Party Is A Bunch Of Racists” or “Libertarians are racists”, I cite this blog( along with Tea Party activists and small L libertarians I know personally) as evidence to the contrary. ”

And here’s a far better quote from Titus: “when one group is actually racist, it is sufficient for the anti-racist group to speak in color-blind terms of human brotherhood since the racism of the Others is obvious to all through word and deed. But when the Other is not racist, the accusations must be shouted from the rooftops.”

This is an awesome quote! Look how well it applies here. If MfK had waited for a genuine reply from me (and, I believe, from any of the other people he mentioned), we wouldn’t be talking about race at all right now – it wouldn’t have come up.

          1. The rest was fine satire. And Mike Puckett is right. I should have lightened up.
Well, maybe Mike’s friend will finally release the whitey tape, and we can all have a good laugh about that.

        3. No, Bob, you’d only think that I was spitting on you. Actually, I’d be laughing so hard that I couldn’t check the saliva flying from my mouth.

  5. Rush often gives away iPads. He’s a huge Apple user, which probably drives lots of hard-core liberal Apple fanatics crazy.

Regarding his decision, most liberals often accuse working class white Republicans of voting against their own interests, certain that socialism would be better for the working man. Since when are high unemployment, inflation, depressed wages, and high energy prices better for folks who have to work for a living?

      1. He gives those away, too when he’s in the mood. Actually, I’ve heard him give away more Macbook Pros than the Airs.

      2. Yea, I saw one guy with an Ipad mounted to some kind of elaborate leather case/stand that held a keyboard on the bottom. It looked pretty much like a…laptop! Oooo but it’s touch screen, just like those tablet pc’s from ten years ago that no one ever bought. And all I’ve ever seen anyone do with their Ipad is browse for more apps and then go back to playing angry birds.
