Rand, this is not a new drink, though I’ve heard it it referred to by several names. In my college days in the mid-to-late 1980’s I used to drink that at a bar called O’Heaney’s Pub on Ontario Street, Albany, NY. My girlfriend at the time used to refer to it as a shot of “Brains”. Some bartenders in other bars referred to it as a “Bloody Brain”, and I believe one of them called it a “Brain Hemorage”. I used to love those. Perfect drink for a young drinker–nice and sweet!
From what I can tell, this is a new one, an enhancement of the Brain Hemorrhage (itself a variation of a buttery nipple) by the addition of blue curacao, giving it an alien look. 🙂
