The ISS is not 1200 miles up.
If NatGeo is off by a factor that big about the ISS, what else are they wrong on? I’m crushed!

The wording is awkward but I think they were trying to say that LEO extends out to 1200 miles.

I think the USAF actually defines 600MI as the beginning of Deep Space.
