  1. It may be right to say that diet can lead to cavities but it is wrong to say hunter gatherers never had cavities.

  2. They certainly didn’t eat bleached flour, which might as well be labeled Processed Dental Plaque. My dental health improved DRAMATICALLY when I switched to whole wheat. Imagine standing 16 pegs on end in a parabolic formation. Now take some plaster and fill in the spaces between the pegs inside the parabola, so that it’s smooth enough that you can’t feel the individual pegs very well. That’s what a diet high in bleached flour does. The bread turns into a sort of plaster when it’s drenched in saliva.
