  1. With the Clintons (plural), it seems to something to do with documents that “might” make them look bad.

With Mr. Obama, it seems to be about verb-object agreement, (waves hand) “These are not the JV you are looking for . . .”

  2. The original piece is here.

It isn’t as categorical as Rand’s summary. The headline asks “Did Clinton Aides Withhold Damaging Benghazi Documents?”. The star witness doesn’t seem to be sure himself:

In May 2013, when critics questioned the ARB’s investigation as not thorough enough, co-chairmen Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Adm. Mike Mullen responded that “we had unfettered access to everyone and everything including all the documentation we needed.”

Maxwell says when he heard that statement, he couldn’t help but wonder if the ARB—perhaps unknowingly—had received from his bureau a scrubbed set of documents with the most damaging material missing.

If Sharyl Attkisson asked Maxwell why he hadn’t mentioned this document scrubbing session before, e.g. to the Congressional investigators who had interviewed him multiple times over the last two years, there’s no mention of it in her article.

    1. He has told Congressional investigators in the past. But now he’s willing to go public, because he’s retired. And he was told that their purpose was to remove any documents that might be “damaging to the seventh floor.” Not sure why this is so hard for you.

          1. Thanks (seriously). There’s a more extensive look at the “who did he tell, and when” question here. Apparently he privately told the same story to a couple GOP House members (Gowdy and Chaffetz) a year ago, but didn’t include the story in his testimony to the whole Oversight committee. Gowdy and Chaffetz then sat on the story until Maxwell decided to go public.

          2. “Gowdy and Chaffetz then sat on the story until Maxwell decided to go public.”

            Possibly at Maxwell’s request.

It’s clear he wanted to wait until he left that job.

    2. “In May 2013, when critics questioned the ARB’s investigation as not thorough enough, co-chairmen Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Adm. Mike Mullen responded that “we had unfettered access to everyone and everything including all the documentation we needed.””

Remarkable that they had such unfettered access to Hillary and yet never talked to her.

This seems more likely, “We had access to everything that we requested.”

      “What did you request?”

      “Nothing.”

  3. we don’t expect infantile cultists like Jim to recall how the billing records in Hillary’s possession were under subpoena; disappeared for 2 years and then mysteriously re-appeared on a nightstand.

But for the rest of us, this alleged scrubbing would not be the first time Clintons played fast and loose with documents…

    Then there’s Sandy Burger….

    And now Maxwell’s statement.

    1. Just keep chanting over and over until your brain is thoroughly washed, “The Democrats are good and pure. They can’t do anything wrong.”

    1. “we don’t expect infantile cultists like Jim . . .”

You’ve got to give him credit, though. He’s not only willing to debase himself playing “Baghdad Jim” for Dear Leader and Lovely Lois, but even for Nurse Ratched. The man is an eclectic Hive loyalist.

  4. Doncha luv all this transparency?

Hillary’s secret weapon is that nobody will claim a fox is guarding the hen house.
