Seems to be doing just fine in the USA. Being a literal communist member of the Democrat party doesn’t have any drawbacks. Communists are being elected and are at the forefront of Democrat party activism.
This was a quote from Vietnam but is also accurate of what is going on in our country,

I always find it a joke about how you call sorts of things communism in the USA. In the words of the man who developed it himself it means state control of the means of production. Who the heck in the Democrat party is proposing to do that?

When you have a monopoly on the legal use of coercion, there are a million different ways to control anything you want to control.
I get tickled beyond belief at people, for example, who claim the whole world is “controlled” by corporations that can’t force anybody to do anything, but have no problem with a panel of presidentially appointed “experts” to decide whether a private citizen should be allowed pay (out of his or her own pocket, if he or she has the means) for a proven and legitimate medical procedure.
Technically, Fascism would be a more correct term to use than Communism from a control of industry as the modern American left regards control of production by crony/proxy.

Oh, I am talking about people who call themselves communist. Democrats elect them to office. Communist groups are an active part of the Democrat party. You will not find a Democrat event where they are not prominent. They help fund raise, plan, and staff Democrat events.

The second half of my comment dealt with control of the media and it is a lot like what we have going on right now in the USA.

Lots of people. OWS was a protest movement for a socialist revolution. When you read about Democrat activists one of the things you will frequently see is the democratization of the workplace. They want Democrat party activists to control all businesses functions. There are a lot of other examples out there.
